OBDF 311: Week 3 Progress

For this week I have been watching videos on the YouTube channel MIT OpenCourseware featuring lectures by Erik Demaine on the science of folding. I wanted to watch and learn from these lectures because I want to create something very similar to Demaine origami sculptures; the course is also just very interesting to watch.

I love the lines and movement he is able to created with paper, I believe this technique would be great for my project.

So far I have learned that to create these sculptures he use circular pieces of paper with holes in the center with an accordion like fold. He uses a flexible but sturdy paper and curves/intertwines each circles through each other to create the finished work.

I am still looking into what kind of paper I should use as well as the specifics of the folding but I hope to be making prototypes this week.
